Courts Entry Porch
Here is my first attempt in Twilight.
In the final I added lights to the interior, but not sure I ever got them to contribute to the image...would be better if there was a little more light inside.
First is the final image; 89 hours baking, 538 passes...only that length because I left it running when I headed out for a 3 day weekend. Did some level lightening in PS.
Second is the first attempt using the trial.
Third image is the same scene in Kerky...I ended up lightening it up in PS for final presentation, but it was too light...this image is the one that came straight out of K without adjusting.

Re: Courts Entry Porch
Very good first attempt!
I like the cloud reflections.
some tips for future...
The bricks could use a good bump map, and the door and ceiling materials seem quite flat and unrealistic.
Black shadow cut out people seem to depress me a bit when I see them in renderings...
The image lacks some 'art/pizazz'... and framing... trees in background/distant vegeration reflecting in the glass, and some foreground planting elements of some sort?

Re: Courts Entry Porch
Nice start, Maybe you can put the field of the view of the camera in Sketchup a little bit more high (like 55)...
Cheers, Fred.

Re: Courts Entry Porch
that's a great tip, Fred, I find myself automatically setting my field of view in SU to be about 70 to start out. It makes a big difference in renderings, and experience for clients walking through the space.

Re: Courts Entry Porch
Thanks guys.
Yeah, the doors and ceiling don't have any material mapped to it...I really need to spend time to create the joints for the soffit - it's going to be some sort of metal panel. Also, door hardware could make it a little more realistic...right.
The Brick does have a bump in it...but from that distance I guess it doesn't really pop.
The blacked out guy...I was posting PS people in the presentation, just didn't do it with this view.
Vegitation, yeah, that is something I need to start adding - just not that comfortable with it yet.
I haven't played with FOV too much, but good tip - I'll check it out.

Re: Courts Entry Porch
click magnifying 'zoom' icon on the toolbar and HOLD SHIFT KEY WHILE YOU CLICK-DRAG DOWN to widen field of view without changing position of camera. then let go and type in "70" and hit "ENTER" button... then type "55" or whatever and hit Enter again to try different fields of view.

Re: Courts Entry Porch
55 degree FOV (first post was 35 degree FOV)
267 passes
Now it looks like I am highlighting the entry door! LOL
Guess I need to play with lighting. Was trying to light only with daylight though.

Wow, that's a great improvement. I think highlighting the door is totally appropriate. It gives the image a "subject", which is always more appealing. Roof material adds some great detail.
