Equipment Trailer
Equipment Trailer
As per this request: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtop ... 81&t=22669 I made this render. I'm pretty pleased with it, but I'm posting here for C&C.

Re: Equipment Trailer
the yellow reflector lights seem like they could use some help, but for a 'quick, render me this' it's very well done!
what's the lighting? if it were in a 'studio' it may look 'cool'

Re: Equipment Trailer
I saw this on SCF. good work, very convincing setup
I'd love to see all those trucks and trailers rendered, its a shame they are normally all straight SU output.

Re: Equipment Trailer
Thanks, guys...I used a face-me image for the background and a HDR (first time ever and I hardly know how to use it), one of a set that Olishea posted a link to a while ago. I want to render a night view...is that best done with a HDR or another way? Fletch, I'll definitely try the studio sometime.
I just used "shiny plastic" template for the yellow reflectors - what would make it look better?
Thanks, Oli...I totally agree about seeing his work rendered...he's got some mad modeling skillz ...as are your rendering/post-pro skillz

Re: Equipment Trailer
you would have to build a material or model that actually acts like the real reflector material works in real life.
while this is theoretically possible, come to think of it - I don't really know how those reflector materials work in real life.

Re: Equipment Trailer
Many retroreflective materials use micro glass beads (like in paints used in fabrics or tapes) or engraved pyramid/diamond shapes in a highly reflective material.Fletch wrote:you would have to build a material or model that actually acts like the real reflector material works in real life.

Re: Equipment Trailer
Just a crude retro-reflective material test - needs still some fine tuning. Just keep an eye how that red/white retro-reflective stripe behaves in different light, never mind the rest of trailer. Kerkythea used as a material editor; you might want to look on a Lafortune material.

Re: Equipment Trailer
Just the default matte material as a comparison.
