[Suggestion] Something like "low thread priority"?

Post by TimBrompton » Thu Nov 05, 2009 9:22 am

- thanks for the really great renderer for SU, I love it very much!
One of the "unique" function i like the most for TLR is, i can work in SU during the rendering, but the problem here is, once I am rendering my dual core CPU utilized 100% of its power to do the rendering and it causes the SU (or other applications) to be very slow.
Is there a solution for this like the one in Vray for SU, the "low thread priority" check box?
Thank you

Hello Tim, Please read the manual. ;) (pg 14 in Manual v.1.0)

Twilight by default renders on low priority mode.

Depending on the computer and the way it handles this, and depending on the render mode/method used you will notice behavior of the computer changing. That is, "low priority" is more "responsive" in some modes rather than in others... depending on many factors.

While rendering animations in "biased" mode @640x480, my PC remains very responsive, even though the system stats said the CPU was being used at 100%. Perhaps you're rendering with an "interior" preset. Those are especially demanding as it's actually rendering 9x the amount of pixels in the final image (3x3 supersampling) and scaling it down every time it updates the image. Closing the render window should help with this as then the image updates at 1/10 the normal rate.

agree with Ecuadorian - for faster rendering/easier working, etc. - close the render window when not needing it... it renders fine in the background. :D
