Yes, this is a problem , but is the solution - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNi9frGYBRQ(perhaps ). It works with Sketchup (requires a great plugin Material Replacer from the TIG), with TW and your library. I almost do not use material preview snene. But the scene is required if you need to show your materials for sharing. I did not like the previous model for the stage. They are very primitive. My model is not perfect, but better. Square size is about 30 cm. Model transparent place thickness is 1 cm and 4 mm. Maybe only unsightly floor grid. If you do need, I will share a model :halFletch wrote:
We have talked many times about the material scene. I think it's a good idea to have the scene.
The problem with the "ball" material scene of course in SketchUp is the UV mapping is nearly impossible...
in SketchUp is the UV mapping is nearly impossible!?

Re: in SketchUp is the UV mapping is nearly impossible!?
I think (hope I've understood correctly the video) that there is no need for "Material replacer" plugin in the case you show. Just right click on the mat-->entity info-->click on the mat's icon and choose under "paint" a different one already applied on the model. In this way the UV mapping is preserved. "Material replacer" is good if you have to change a material applied on a lot of surfaces at once.
P.S. That plugin is by Thomthom and not TIG. By TIG is "Global material change" which is very similar but works both with selected faces or the entire model.

ThomThom's new Quadfaces plugin is the closest I've seen to real UV mapping in SU.
That's really looking great, Alvydas. When you feel it's ready to share, please feel free to share it. Perhaps a sub-surface bar, and measured varying thickness change at the base (for previewing the clear, SSS, and other translucent materials)

Yes, Massimo, was wrong, that is, from Thomthom . Your method is offered to me was the news . But can choose only the texture, which is in a model. Thanks for the advice .
Thus it is best to have a model with a spherical uvmap and quad UV map . I change the basis for the model. Thank you Fletch.

I am ready to share the scene. I made simplified model. Is a similarity with Thea the model. I think that this is not bad.

The material on the last one is extraodinary. May I ask how you achieved that?

Here is my old experimentation. The material I did with Kerkythea Material Editor. Merge rainbown metal with glass green edge.rangerrick wrote:The material on the last one is extraodinary. May I ask how you achieved that?
Another picture is Frosted glass with a value 100 of shinines

Oh, very nice. So you made these in Kerkythea. I understand (read somewhere on this forum) that next version release of Twilght will have advanced material editing. I look forward to this!
