Material ID render
Material ID render
Hi!
How can I create a material ID render? It’s useful when working on photoshop or gimp, to create quick and effective masks, for instance.
VRay does it (attached images)
Thanks!

Re: Material ID render
Hello, Mnvital
Yes, it's useful. Unfortunately we do not have Material or Object ID rendering option in Twilight's render engine.
We have several different render passes available, they are found in the "Tech" area of the Render Presets
You will need to render the alpha for the objects you want to isolate. This is easily done, but is an extra step or two.

- Select an object.
- Choose in the Render Dialog, "Render Preset>Tech>Specialized>Alpha Mask
- Start the rendering.
- When asked to render only selected objects choose “yes”.
- A black and white image will be created of the object.
- Save the rendered mask image.
Re: Material ID render
Hi Fletch!
I was trying to follow your steps (the red prism was selected, believe), but no success But... I randomly tried another setting in Tech (Diffuse Texture), and it worked fine!
I think is this I need Maybe, as you said, render twice the resolution, to avoid dents or artefacts.
What do you think?

Re: Material ID render
diffuse texture will work just like you want it to in some cases, but renders transparent materials like glass and water as black and it renders metal as black
It looks like you disabled the question it should be asking you about "do you want to render selected objects only?"
You can reset your dialog questions inside the Extensions>Twilight V2>Options dialog. Then you should see the question about rendering selected objects only.
That said, we will be looking into this to see if there's a solution we can come up with to get you a Material ID render pass.

Re: Material ID render
Great, Fletch! I'm trying to understand render settings xml params (to customize this diffuse), but i don't find any documentation about it. Is there any resource to study about it?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Re: Material ID render
I reset dialog box and, ok, it reapperead. But i tried to render only selected object, and it didn't work. Rendered as black.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Material ID render
This could mean there is a problem with the Mac version and rendering selected only.
Re: Material ID render
Fletch, No issues rendering "Alpha Mask - Selection Only" on my iMac. Twilight V 2.12.8 Pro. The iMac OS is 10.11.6 . Thought this might help in tracking down the O.P.'s issues.
TwilightPro V2.11
Re: Material ID render
tuna57, sorry the question, but what is O.P.?
Re: Material ID render
Mnvital, no problem.... you are the O.P. - "original post or original poster"
TwilightPro V2.11
